The Chicago Blues Connection
John Oliver's musical journey began in the Washington, D.C., area, where he discovered his love for performing as a teenager. His first guitar came unexpectedly through a trade at his father's furniture store, igniting a lifelong passion for music that soon led him to the stage.
After relocating to Chicago, John immersed himself in the city's legendary blues scene and founded the Incoming Groove Band. Over the years, he has performed with talented musicians, made a surprise appearance on stage with Frankie Sullivan of Survivor, and shared festival lineups with nationally recognized artists, including Three Dog Night.
Today, John continues to carry the Chicago blues tradition forward in Colorado through both the Incoming Groove Band and the Incoming Groove Trio, delivering the same driving blend of Chicago Blues, Rock, and Funk that has defined his musical journey for decades.
John Oliver & Incoming Groove Trio
Chicago Blues . Rock . Funk
Same Groove. Smaller Stage.
Over the years, venues and event organizers often asked if there was a smaller version of the Incoming Groove Band—one that offered the same musical style and energy in a format better suited for breweries, wineries, listening rooms, private events, festivals, and other intimate settings.
The Incoming Groove Trio was created to meet that need.
Led by founder, guitarist, and vocalist John Oliver, the trio delivers the same driving Chicago Blues, Rock, and Funk that have become the hallmark of the Incoming Groove Band. Rooted in the improvisational spirit of the blues, the trio combines expressive guitar work, dynamic vocals, and a rock-solid rhythm section to create an engaging live experience that's perfectly suited for smaller stages without sacrificing energy or musicianship.
