About John Oliver

John was born in Washinton DC where his young musical career began in the late 60’s. He literally found his voice singing top 40 hits with his band at USO events, graduations, and sock hops—entertaining young and old. He picked up his first guitar as a pre-teen when someone traded a worn Teisco for a used sofa at a furniture store his dad owned and he was instantly hooked. Soon he picked up some sticks and quickly realized that rhythm was also in his blood. This young multi-talented musician went on to form a trio band in the DC area playing at local bars, night clubs, and concert events opening up for major acts such as Tanya Tucker.

John relocated to Chicago where his love for the blues solidified. There he formed the Incoming Groove Band. He enjoyed many years in the music rich city of Chicago including a surprise visit to the stage with Frankie Sullivan from Survivor and outdoor festivals with major acts such as Three Dog Night on the event lineup.

His powerful sometimes gritty vocals cuts through to your soul with his classic and creative tribute to the timeless Blues genre. His signature guitar licks will electrify you and his acoustic renditions gently draws his audience back to the classic music he grew up with. His electric blues sound blends influences from rock funk, and R&B. Along with covers and his own original music, he has now brought Incoming Groove and his love for Chicago electric blues, rock and funk to Colorado. Over his long musical career John has played with many seasoned talented musicians including his son who plays drums in the Incoming Groove Band.

Booking is available for John for a solo performance, trio or full band.
